  1. 6/28/09 Hot summer days make training difficult. I am flying the birds by 7:30 a.m. and done by 9:00. Then it is too hot for them (and us) to want to do anything. Then, rinse the mews, scrub and refresh bath pans. I often shower the birds while in the mews. They really like it. The only one who does not like it is the barn owl Newton. He hides in his artificial stump. So, I turn it towards the wall and clean his mews while he waits inside. Then when done. I turn it around so he can exit and play.

  2. Just got a lovely male Harris on loan from my friend Glen. His job is keeping him busy and he wants someone to make time for the bird. What s sweety. Calm, friendly and loves to be touched and scratched on the head. The female he tansferred to me earlier is difficult, alpha female. So I sat her on one chair while the sweet male sat on the back of the chair I was in in the office today, doing bills and paperwork. It was fun. I think that the female learned something from watching how a nice bird acts.
